Myriad Genetics Phase 5

Project Description: 

This three story project consisted of approximately 79,800 square feet.  The building weight is 825 tons including structural steel, metal deck, open web joists, and miscellaneous metals.  Sure Steel provided installation of the structural steel.  Because the project was located at the University of Utah, the project required daily sequenced deliveries due to no onsite storage for materials.  Multiple manufacturers were used for miscellaneous metals, open web joists and metal deck.  Sure Steel worked closely with GEM Buildings to provide project management and team support through steel erection duration and coordination of deliveries.

Schedule: 

The erection of the structural steel was the projects top priority as the critical path.  Big-D Construction required the substantial completion of the structural steel to be completed in less than 56 days.  Sure Steel exceeded the expectations of Big-D Construction by completing the critical portions of the project ahead of schedule.

Quality: 

All steel erection was completed per AISC quality standards and project specifications. GEM Buildings provided in house quality control, through their AISC Certification allowing fabrication of complex structures without 3rd party inspections.  All detailing and modeling were completed with SDS2 3D modeling.
