Project Description:

Sure Steel was responsible for a turn key steel package (fabrication and erection) on four educational multi-story buildings on the Salt Lake Community College – Miller Campus.  The buildings total 118,000 square feet and consist of 425 tons of structural steel.  As this is an existing campus, the job site was restricting, allowing minimal lay down area.  By developing a detailed logistics plan and working with the local fabricator, we were able to sequence the steel to have daily deliveries which facilitated our aggressive erection schedule.

Schedule:

The project was completed ahead of schedule due largely to the pre-construction planning and scheduling of fabrication and erection.

Quality:

Sahara, Inc. and the Owner required high quality standards for these heavy use educational buildings.  Sure Steel had no quality issues on the project.

Safety:

There were zero safety issues on this project.

Reference from Sahara, Inc.:

“Sure Steel has always performed well for me on my projects.  They defy the stereotypes for iron-workers by recognizing that safety is just as much their responsibility as the General Contractor.  It is always a pleasure knowing that a Sure Steel crew will be erecting one of my buildings.  The performance of structural steel erection demands a close communication with the steel supplier, detailer, and designer.  Sure Steel knows their trade and was invaluable at helping my team with this communication flow.  For example, at the Salt Lake Community College, they were responsible for the coordination of the detailing, fabrication and complete erection.  Knowing they were in charge of the steel allowed Sahara to have a one-stop-shop.” – Lance Ota, Sahara, Inc.
