Project Description:  This is the largest project completed by Sure Steel to date, $29,000,000.  This 200,000 square foot mill complex is over 115 feet tall and features five over head bridge cranes.  One of these cranes is a 110 ton bridge crane that spans 120 feet.  This crane is used to install and service the ball mills in the grinding building portion of this complex.  This Pre-Engineered Metal Building was engineered and fabricated by Garco Building Systems in conjunction with Sure Steel project managers to be the most cost effective solution for the project.  This complex also features two inch thick insulated metal foam in place panels by All Weather Panels.  It also features M&I rubber roll up doors by Albany/Crawford Door Systems.  This was a turn key supply and erect project for the metal building, cladding, cranes, and doors as well as other miscellaneous building components.

Schedule:  This project site is located at 11,400 feet in elevation near Leadville, Colorado.   Design began on this building complex at the beginning of 2008 and construction began in April of that same year.  Due to the elevation, the building season was significantly shortened.  Sure Steel was able to deliver a building design to the project engineers in a very short time frame so that detail engineering could be completed for footing / foundation design as well as mine and mill process equipment and platforms.  The buildings were completely erected and enclosed by November of 2008.

Quality:  Sure Steel project managers worked closely with component fabricators and made several visits to fabrication facilities in Washington, Texas, and Mexico to ensure that all project quality requirements were being met.  Site personnel were able to inventory all components as they were delivered to ensure all materials needed were accounted for and installed correctly per the project drawings and specifications.

Safety: Sure Steel worked 30,440 man hours on this project with out a lost time safety incident or MSHA citation.
